DB broadband supports TK-Telekom in its network expansion in Europe
With Berlin-based optical fiber provider Cito Networks as a regional partner, DB broadband is pursuing a connection from the Polish border to a computing center in the heart of Berlin. From a strategic connecting point on the railroad, Cito Networks runs a connection all the way to the computing center.
DB has a number of such connecting points, which are used by network operators to build comprehensive fiber infrastructure across Europe.
Working closely with both partners, DB broadband was able to complete this European project in just three months. It’s a great success for all the involved parties.
Dr. Christian Humpert, CEO of DB broadband: ‘The project done with TK-Telekom and Cito Networks is special for us. As part of our cooperation, we have proven that we can also realize data center connections and support the expansion of optical fiber outside of Germany.’
TK Telekom is a Netia Group company that specializes in ICT services for the transportation and logistics industry. Until 2015, the company was part of the PKP Group, which handles the infrastructure of Polish railroads.
Netia is the operator of the second-largest state-of-the-art, redundant, broadband network in Poland, spanning approximately 50,000 km. It connects 23,000 km long metropolitan networks in over 100 of the largest Polish towns and cities and provides several international connections. Netia's network is available to more than 800 major A-class office buildings, from Frankfurt to every town or city in Poland. Netia data transmission services ensure the capacity from 2 Mbps to 100 Gbps and multiplex transmission speeds.
Krzysztof Szydłowski, director of the wholesale services department, Netia Group: ‘We are pleased to have begun our cooperation with Deutsche Bahn Broadband. I believe that in the future we will be able to expand it and work together to develop new projects, which will be beneficial to both parties and will contribute to further development of modern telecommunications services throughout Europe.’
Cito Networks is a Berlin-based optical fiber provider, who in mid-2019, took over FiberPlan's empty duct system, completed in 2001. They have been steadily expanding their infrastructure with a high-performance fiber network.
